Appliance: Air Fryer
Serves: 2
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8–9 minutes
Total Time: ~20 minutes
Ingredients
For the Patties:
- 400 g sausages or sausage meat
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 3 spring onions, thinly sliced
For Glazing & Sauce:
- 1½ tbsp honey
- 1½ tbsp gochujang (½ tbsp for mayo, 1 tbsp for glaze)
- 40 g mayonnaise
For Serving:
- 2 burger buns
- 4 slices Swiss cheese (or other melty cheese)
- Pickles, sliced
- Lettuce, sliced
- 1 red chilli, sliced
- Frozen fries (optional, for serving)
Preparation Method
- Remove the sausages from their casing and place the meat into a bowl. Add the gochujang and sliced spring onions. Mix well until evenly combined.
- Divide the mixture in half and form into two thick burger patties, slightly larger than your burger buns.
- If using a dual-drawer air fryer, place the patties in one drawer and frozen fries in the other.
- Set one drawer to Air Fry at 205°C for 8 minutes and the other to 200°C for 9 minutes.
- Select Sync Finish to ensure both drawers finish cooking at the same time.
- Alternatively, cook the burgers first, then the fries.
- While the burgers cook, prepare two sauces:
- In one bowl, mix the mayonnaise with ½ tbsp gochujang to make the spicy mayo.
- In another bowl, mix the honey with 1 tbsp gochujang to make the glaze.
- When the burgers have 1 minute of cook time left, brush each patty with the glaze and top with a slice of cheese. Return to the air fryer for the final minute of cooking.
- To assemble, slice the burger buns and spread each side with a generous spoon of spicy mayo. Add pickles, lettuce, chilli slices, and top with the glazed, cheesy sausage patty.
- Serve immediately with hot fries on the side.
