Apple pie bombs

Soft and fluffy apple pie donut bombs made with the simplest dough. This recipe is an absolute success with ingredients you probably already have at home. Serve with ice cream for a complete dessert, or dip them in caramel sauce and snack with a cup of tea. It will be hard not to eat them all in one sitting!

Servings: 4

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 18 minutes

Equipment: Instant Vortex air fryer

INGREDIENTS:

  • "font-size:12pt; font-variant:normal; white-space:pre-wrap"> 3 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 50g sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water
  • 140 g self-raising flour
  • 170 g full-fat yoghurt (5% fat)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 20g butter

Preparation method:

1. Place the apples in a saucepan, together with 1 tbsp water, sugar, ¼ tsp cinnamon and vanilla. Place the lid on the pan and cook the apples over high heat, about 3-5 minutes.

2. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the apples. Cook, stirring, for another minute until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. Mix the self-raising flour, yoghurt and salt in a bowl to form a sticky dough. Form the dough into a ball and cut into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into balls and use a rolling pin to roll them into a circle ½ cm thick. Spoon some apple mixture into the center and pinch the edges to seal the filling.

4. Select the baking function on the Instant Vortex and set the temperature to 170°C and the time to 11 minutes. Once the air fryer is preheated, place the bombs in it. While the air fryer is baking, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon in one bowl and melt the butter in another bowl.

5. Once the bombs are done, remove them from the Vortex, brush them with melted butter and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve nice and hot!
